Whilst an empty wall may appear to be the perfect blank canvas, it can be intimidating deciding how to style this vacant space. Enhancing your living area is especially important in recent times, with so much time being spent inside; the need to infuse warmth, comfort and calm into our interiors is a necessity. When considering how to fill an empty wall, it is important to appeal to your own personal style, as well as synchronising with your existing interior elements. It doesn’t matter whether you live in a small city apartment or an impressive country estate, we have compiled a list of possibilities to help give your walls the attention they deserve...

Wall Art

A simple yet effective way to dress up your walls is by adding wall art. Without the expense and effort required of wallpaper or painting, it can add a personal touch to your home that once hung, can easily be removed or interchanged allowing the freedom to refresh your space as required. Hanging a framed piece at eye level, can give a balanced focal point without detracting from the rest of the room. Our curated collection of wall art has a range of colours and styles to suit any interior and is designed at the perfect size to be hung independently or for a more cohesive look, as a set of two or three dependent on space. The Whale Cove pieces give a dreamy nod to a coastal seascape, whilst the Desert Dust range features playful, abstract elements in a neutral finish. If you desire something more geometric than abstract, our Lunar Rock Set also comes in a range of 3, with a hand finished gold metallic leaf for an opulent twist. Consider placements when arranging artwork in multiples, leaving just enough space for the pieces to relate to each other, as too much space can make your art appear floating and leave your room feeling unanchored.

Mirrors

Breaking up a negative space, mirrors are a great attainable way to elevate your decor. Not only functional for checking appearances, but by capturing and reflecting light, mirrors can open up your interior giving the illusion of a larger space. The bigger the mirror, the more space it will appear to create. Optimise natural light by positioning a mirror opposite a window. Alternatively, if your room doesn’t have a window; we have a range of wall mirrors which feature an ambient light source. Whether it may be the more understated Eclipse Illuminated Mirror or the extravagant Solar Flare Wall Mirror, these illuminated pieces will create an atmospheric light source in your interior. To inject drama into a hallway or dress a mantle, statement mirrors such as our Cog Wall Mirror or the Transition Wall Mirror bring a three-dimensional level to the wall, creating texture and depth. Atypical mirrored shapes are fast becoming a trend for 2022, and our Alveare Wall Mirror answers the brief. The clever hexagonal design lends itself to be mounted in multiples alongside the accompanying shelving unit to create a stunning display. Our Altalune Dressing Mirror also fits into this category, with its distinctive Art Deco inspired silhouette; this floor standing mirror also has a pivot function, generating the illusion of light and space from every angle.

Mirrored tiles

For the ultimate dramatic detailing, mirrored tiles provide a luxury yet useful dimension to your interior. Available in a whole host of sizes and shapes, our collection creates endless design possibilities, suitable for a variety of settings. The Mirrored Diamond Wall Tiles will hide any flaws and imperfections on your wall thanks to their large scale, serving as a striking focal point and providing a useful reflective surface. To inject glamour into your kitchen, our Mirrored Rectangle Wall Tiles Pack create the perfect backsplash due to their brick sized style tessellating together. This shape also comes with an antique, distressed effect - Mirrored Vintage Effect Rectangle Wall Tiles Pack; providing an alternative look. Whether your preference is for the contemporary Mirrored Hexagonal Wall Tiles or the more conventional Mirrored Square Wall Tiles; there are options to suit many different interior schemes. Whilst some of you may wish to hire a professional, for the skilled DIY enthusiasts.

Wall Lights

A timeless trend, combining a clever fusion of practicality and aesthetics, wall lights are a classic option to add finesse and function to your wall. Their style has withstood the test of time, adorning walls of chic cafes and boutique hotels, as well as contemporary apartments and historical interiors. The perfect way to subtly accentuate certain parts of the room, illuminating without encroaching on floor space. Our select collection of wall lights offers a failsafe approach to inject personality, ideal for adding character whilst being minimally invasive. If space isn’t an issue, many pieces are part of a wider range of lighting, providing the opportunity to include accompanying pendant or table lights into your interior. Some wall lights work better in pairs such as the Moray Wall Lights. With either a brushed brass or polished silver finish, these distinctive sconces feature laser cut stainless steel with an organic abstract pattern inspired by the intricate markings of a Moray Eel. A frosted glass diffuser completes the look creating a soft, ambient light. Pair either side of your bed to create a cosy atmosphere, adding a Moray Rug for ultimate comfort and consistency. To complement a console table, opt for two of the Delano Wall Lights placing either side of a mirror to open your space and create symmetry. If you have a long corridor or stairwell to illuminate, a series of identical wall lights such as the Rubell Wall Light or the Conway Wall Light; makes an inviting and decorative alternative to overhead lights. For a standalone statement option, the Camille Double Wall Light has a stunning, sculptural form, with light directed both upwards and outwards; and is available in two metal finishes to suit a wide range of interiors.

Shelving

Undoubtedly the most functional option to enliven your empty wall is to incorporate shelving. Versatile and practical, shelves are a good way to maximise space, providing both style and storage.  They can be used in any room and for multiple purposes, whether it’s for displaying art or becoming art. Our Alveare Shelf Unit is the perfect example of this, making a statement focal point when tessellated in multiples alongside the Alveare Wall Mirror, yet also making a striking feature in singular form. Similarly, the Uno range of mirrored shelves are a unique modular wall mounted system which can be as simple or expansive as you wish. Recessed keyhole fixings to the reverse of the product make for easy installation, becoming invisible when fixed to create a floating effect. The Inga range is a collection of floating shelves including internal storage, making them ideal to use as bedside tables or dressing/console tables, as well as shelving units. Their hidden hardware appeals to a minimalistic audience with the mirror adding a luxury element. The surface offers the perfect platform to display an extensive collection of plants, candles, perfume or trinkets whilst the internal space can hide any clutter creating a peaceful environment. This range also includes the Inga Corner Floating Storage System. Clean, simple and durable this corner unit is great for brightening up a corner, making the most of a small space. For a hallway incorporate a shelving unit with a mirror such as the Aria Mirrored Wall Shelf. This Art Deco inspired shape will create light and space with the shelf adding function to the area. For a bathroom or bedroom, the Mirrored Floating Wall Shelves come in two different sizes and have a low weight capacity making them ideal to display makeup, perfume and other lightweight items.
